Project Overview
Our customer in Finchingfield owned a beautiful old property, but the roof simply wasn’t viable for solar panels. Keen to cut their reliance on the grid, they asked us to explore alternatives. With plenty of garden space, we designed a low-profile ground-mount system that would deliver the energy they needed without spoiling the look of their home.
What We Did
The bespoke installation included:
- 15kWp ground-mounted solar array
- Built on plastic tube supports (commonly used for flat roofs)
- Gravel base to improve drainage and keep weeds down
- 10kW inverter and 20kWh battery, neatly housed in a weather-protected garden shed
- Cable trenched back to the house
- Full DNO approval for single-phase supply
The Results
The customer now enjoys all the benefits of clean, reliable solar energy while keeping the system discreet and low to the ground. At around £25,000 supplied and fitted with no VAT, the project offered excellent value for a system of this size.
Conclusion
This project proves that even when a roof isn’t an option, ground-mounted solar can provide a practical, attractive, and high-performing solution.
Client Feedback
The client told us they were “thrilled with how neat the system looks” and loved that it blended in so well with the garden. They were so pleased, in fact, that two of their friends have since asked us to install similar systems on their properties.
